In my group classes, I’ve been regularly placed in the Advanced Beginner section. This has been a lot of fun. There is one hindrance to going social dancing: coming up with choreography for your follow. In other words, we “leads” need to come up with a routine (by staying one or two steps ahead of our “follow”) and then effectively communicate that to her with our frame + hands. This is hard. No way around it. It is hard to lead. This is a significant roadblock on the way to social dancing. Believe me, there is a ton of social dancing opportunities here in Seattle. The whole reason for taking classes is to go social dancing. Well, if you are afraid to go, what is the point? Well, I met up with John Chau, owner and founder of LDX Latin dance. As a male, he knows the struggle of leading and a “frozen mind.” I decided to take private classes with him because he has a system which is logical and takes some of the pressure off of the memory by making it easy to come with variations on the moves you already know. Just a few classes into this and my confidence is already improved. Based on what I have learned so far, I have no hesitation recommending LDX Latin dance and PRIVATE lessons with John, esp you men out there who suffer from stage fight and a frozen mind on the dance floor. One tip: if you can bring a follow with you, that will help. She can practice with you on days you are not in class, as well as attend social dances with you. Then, when you come back to class, the two of you can work together so you both improve. I highly recommend John Chau and LDX Latin Dance in Renton if you want to increase your salsa dancing skills.

This is a good class if you wanna learn simple moves and be able to dance at bailes to a certain point. He is a very nice dance teacher even when you mess up he will still try and make you understand the moves and I’ve been going for like 4 weeks now and I can already dance cumbia and merengue, so that definitely says something. If you would like to learn with a super nice instructor this is the perfect class for you!

The dance studio is really decent and clean and spacious. The dance instructor is very helpful & straightforward with the dance moves and steps. The steps become more easier as we practice and review them. When I started this class, I was very nervous but as I consistently start to get the hang of it and made me enhance my confidence. The thought of being acknowledged as I dance with dancer makes me feel like a better person mentally and physically, Thank you all!

I’ve found the ideal location for learning latin dances like the merengue, cumbia, bachata, and so on! I contacted them via their website, received a prompt response, and the teacher, DJ Juanchata, was able to address all of my inquiries. I enjoyed my first private class, which I booked! I had fun and learnt a lot on the first day, and I felt at ease straight away. I’ve already scheduled further classes. Strongly advised for newcomers and those wishing to learn how to dance to different types of latin music!

Jay is FANTASTIC! As a new learner, I was intimidated at first, but he has a natural ability to make people (myself) feel super comfortable with him. He’s a kind and patient dance instructor. If you want to learn to dance, or learn to dance better, I HIGHLY recommend his service. I have found DJ Juanchata of LDX Latin Dance to be a fantastic instructor and leader. Under his guidance I have learned Merengue, Bachata, Salsa and Cumbia. The amazing thing about this experience is that I felt comfortable right away during his private lessons. Being a person who had never danced before I was nervous and unsure. DJ Juanchata is patient and kind. He goes out of his way to guide people and help them progress. He even is willing to help his students at dance socials to help them apply their skills. LDX Dance studio also has amazing assistants who help lead students. I highly recommend this experience and it honestly has changed my life and built my confidence beyond my wildest expectations.

I recently developed an interest in bachata latin dancing. I booked some private bachata lessons with John and it has been an amazing experience. John is teaching me the basic steps and moves which is giving me a great foundation in this style of latin dance and I am moving forward with great confidence. His lessons are so fun, we dance and laugh and learn all at the same time! I definitely recommend his private lessons to anyone interested in latin dance.

I hired Jay and DJ M for my wife’s 50th birthday party. They DJ’d music and taught the Meringue to my party of 50ish. They were fun. They were accommodating. Music was great. Dancing was fun. Even had lights and monitors. I would definitely recommend them for anyone wanting to throw a fun event!

We had the pleasure of inviting John, a fantastic salsa dancer, to our company summer picnic, and he truly made the event unforgettable! John has an incredible talent for heating up the vibe and getting everyone involved. Even those with zero dance experience found themselves having a blast. One of the highlights was when John helped us create a unique fusion of Bollywood and salsa, dancing salsa to Bollywood music. It was an absolute hit and added a special touch to our event. John is not only a skilled dancer but also a genuinely nice person who brings a lot of fun and energy. We would definitely love to work with him again in the future. Highly recommend!

John has been an excellent instructor. He is patient, breaking down the steps carefully, and gives helpful feedback to make you look your best while dancing. My partner and I have been taking private cumbia lessons for a few weeks now, and we’ve been able to advance very quickly with John’s help. The private lessons are very much worth the investment for us, but still very affordable. John is obviously very passionate about latin dance, and his love for teaching comes through in each class. With past dance classes and instructors, I’ve worried about whether the style and moves would look authentic to what is being danced in the real world, but it’s clear that John’s repertoire of moves is exactly what I was hoping to learn. We’re excited to continue learning with John and are even considering additional dance styles. I’ve taken classes at 3 different dance studios in the past, but I would highly recommend LDX over these other places. It’s by far the best dance instruction I’ve received in the Seattle area.

John is an exceptional teacher. My wife and I have been taking cumbia lessons with him for over a month now and every time we get a tailored, progressive lesson each time. It’s been an absolute blast and we’ve learned so much. The amount of attention and specific detail we received on our areas that we needed work on were spot on and tailored to each of us. John is very patient, specific, and detailed in his instructions. At no point did we feel rushed or lost. In our lessons John kept a good balance between challenging us and keeping it familiar. I highly recommend taking John on in any capacity as an instructor! Keep up the good work!
